Job summary

Flextronics - The Flex Company in Prai, Penang is seeking an EH&S Engineer to develop, implement and monitor environmental safety programs ensuring compliance with local, state and federal regulations. The role reports to the EHS Manager and supports initiatives across the site.

The successful candidate will consult with departments, inspect machinery for safety, conduct training, investigate incidents, and coordinate health and safety measures including ergonomics and industrial hygiene.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environment or Health Sciences or equivalent EH&S experience.
• 1–3 years of experience in EH&S or related position.
• Safety Health Officer (Green Book) and CePSWAM certifications.

Responsibilities

• Consult with departments on safety programs and equipment use.
• Inspect plans and machinery for safety compliance.
• Tour plant to identify hazards and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Define safety clothing requirements and install safety devices on machinery.
• Conduct or coordinate safety training for emergency procedures and policies.
• Investigate industrial accidents and prepare reports.
• Conduct air quality tests for hazardous gases and vapors.
• Identify health and safety hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Advise business units on ergonomics, hazardous materials, and industrial hygiene.
• Audit business units and liaise with vendors and contractors on safety matters.
• Compile and submit safety reports and manage workers compensation and OSHA logs.

Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add an EH&S Engineer located in Prai, Penang. Reporting to the EHS Manager the EH&S Engineer role in charge of developing, implementing, and monitoring company environmental safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations.

What a typical day looks like:

• Consults with all departments on design and use of equipment, fire prevention and safety programs.
• Examines plans and specifications for new machinery or equipment to define if all safety precautions have been included.
• Tours plant to inspect fire and safety equipment, machinery, and facilities to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Define requirements for safety clothing and devices, and designs, builds, and installs or directs installation of safety devices on machinery.
• Conducts or coordinates safety training to educate workers about emergency acknowledge, safety policies, laws and practices.
• Investigates industrial accidents to minimize recurrence and prepares accident reports.
• Conducts air quality tests for presence of harmful gases and vapors.
• In charge of identifying health and safety hazards and recommending corrective actions.
• Serves as internal consultant to business units on ergonomics, hazardous materials, industrial hygiene and fire and chemical safety matters.
• Audits business units.
• Interfaces with outside vendors, contractors and engineers regarding facilities, chemicals and other workplace health and safety related matters.
• Compiles and submits safety reports.
• Administers workers compensation, OSHA 2000 log and return to work program.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environment or Health Sciences or equivalent experience in EH&S and knowledge of related regulations, codes, and guidelines.
• Requires a minimum of 1-3 years of experience in EH&S or related position.
• Requires Safety Health Officer (Green Book).
• Requires Certified Environmental Professional in Scheduled Waste Management (CePSWAM).
