Purpose Statement

Our Endoscopy Research and Development team is seeking a Mechanical Engineer who is passionate about improving patient outcomes across our wide range of complex systems-based products. As part of the R&D team, you will be responsible for the definition, verification, and validation of imaging-based products. Come grow your career with us!

Job Responsibilities

1. Develop product requirements
2. Design, develop, debug, modify, and test mechanical design solutions using current tools, analysis techniques, and technologies
3. Review electrical, mechanical, and optical designs and changes to ensure the development of appropriate test methods
4. Define strategy and perform product design and testing in compliance with medical device regulations
5. Develop and execute test methods and fixtures for design verification
6. Define and execute test plans to support design verification
7. Collaborate closely with Mechanical, Electrical, and Optical Engineers to develop opto-electromechanical test methods
8. Provide mechanical troubleshooting of prototype devices to aid product development
9. Perform troubleshooting on new products/process problems related to design, material, or process as a hands-on Engineer
10. Conduct feasibility studies to verify capability and functionality or to assess existing technologies
11. Solve complex problems and make sound design recommendations
12. Analyze and interpret complex test results, drawing conclusions
13. Prepare detailed reports and communicate results to diverse audiences
14. Maintain engineering documentation
15. Build proactive relationships and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet stakeholder needs
16. Identify and establish relationships with external device manufacturers

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Minimum of 8 years in product development
• Proficiency in mechanical engineering principles
• Deep knowledge of design verification in a regulated industry
• Experience with lab equipment for characterizing mechanical attributes
• Effective communication and presentation skills (both written and verbal)
• Experience with Design Controls or equivalent in the Medical Device Industry
• Willingness to travel 10-20%, including internationally

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in medical devices
• Master’s or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Knowledge of imaging-based medical devices, both clinical and technical
• Proficiency with optical principles
• Understanding of electrical safety standards (IEC 60601-1), HF (IEC 60601-2-2), and EMI/EMC standards (60601)
