Job Description

The Reference Data Specialist is responsible for instructions of client deliverables, coding, and data input validation focusing on specific industry/category or set of categories (e.g., Beverages, Food, Health and Beauty Products). As a Reference Data Specialist at NielsenIQ, you create and deliver client outputs accurately and timely.

  • Responsible for instructions of client deliverables, coding, and data input validation focusing on specific industry/category or set of categories.
  • Perform cross coding and item-related quality checks daily.
  • Act as a backup to other coders when needed; conduct physical store checks to validate item-related information.
  • Keep track and document special instructions related to category assignment.
  • Plan and execute a complex daily workload to meet departmental and company schedules.
  • Ensure accuracy throughout the process, from validation before database setup to managing samples, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Respond to external queries and act as a liaison with clients and stakeholders; investigate and resolve data, process, or product-related issues.
  • Willing to be trained as a category expert.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Business Administration, Statistics, or relevant fields.
  • Fresh graduates or candidates with up to 1 year of experience in data and operations are welcome.
  • Experience in FMCG or as an encoder is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team environment.
  • Passionate about data with high accuracy, proactivity, good analytical skills, and logical thinking.
  • High level of accountability and ownership.
  • Eager to learn and grow.
  • Proficiency in Excel is mandatory; knowledge of SQL, R, or Python is advantageous.
  • Proactive in sharing opinions and voicing out ideas.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and one additional Asian language (Mandarin proficiency is highly preferred).
