Job description

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced EAL Teacher to support students with little to no English proficiency in our New to English programme. The teacher will play a key role in helping students develop foundational English language skills and adapt to an English-speaking learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach and support students with no prior English exposure, focusing on listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
• Develop and implement engaging, structured lesson plans tailored to beginner-level English learners.
• Use various teaching strategies, including visual aids, gestures, and interactive activities, to facilitate language acquisition.
• Provide one-on-one and small-group instruction for personalized learning.
• Monitor student progress and assess language development using appropriate tools.
• Collaborate with mainstream teachers to support students’ transition into the wider curriculum.
• Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that encourages confidence and participation.
• Communicate progress and areas for improvement to ML lead.
• Participate in professional development to stay updated on best practices in EAL education.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• A degree in Education, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a related field.
• Certification in Teaching English as an Additional Language (e.g., CELTA, TEFL, TESOL) is preferred.
• Experience teaching EAL students, especially those with little to no English proficiency.
• Strong understanding of language acquisition strategies for young learners.
• Ability to differentiate instruction based on students' levels.
• Patience, cultural sensitivity, and excellent communication skills.
