Head of Legal - Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur - ROSEN

Description

The Head of Legal & Compliance is the head of the legal department and responsible for the legal affairs of the Region / Sector. This function includes providing legal counsel to the COO, Regional / Sectoral Vice Presidents, Directors, and other members of management. The Head of Legal & Compliance also acts as a mentor to key legal department personnel, encouraging their professional growth. This function is also a collaborative one and, in that capacity, works with departmental leadership and key stakeholders across the business in overseeing and ensuring legal compliance across the business, maintaining the business's integrity both internally and externally and identifying and managing potential legal risk. The Head of Legal & Compliance also works with all internal lawyers in drafting sensitive and high-value legal documentation necessary for business operations.

• Managing a team of legal counsels and other members of the legal department and providing support to
• other legal and compliance team members
• Managing legal risks within the business by taking responsibility for providing legal advice to the business's senior leadership on all legal matters affecting their individual departmental transactions
• Developing and leading regional/sectorial legal strategy to promote and protect the Corporate's matters
• Developing and leading internal audit and regional/sectorial compliance programs in accordance with the Group-wide compliance programs
• Overseeing delivery of legal services and resources to accomplish Corporate goals, strategies and priorities
• Maintaining proper Corporate interactions with the relevant local, state and federal governmental bodies, legislatures and the community at large
• Assessment of Risk Management across the organization and provide guidance on how to manage or mitigate sources of risk
• Executing legal activity according to Corporate expectations, guidelines, processes, policies and laws
• Leading internal and external resources in the defense of the Corporate against any and all claims
• Supporting online and offline HR recruitment initiatives and encouraging a proactive, direct sourcing mindset towards Talent Acquisition
  
  

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Law or related field; additional certifications or qualifications are a plus.
• 5-7 years working experience in related field.
• Strong understanding of legal principles, contract law, and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Proficiency in legal research and drafting legal documents
