Job Overview:
The Principal Operations Engineer is responsible for interpreting internal or external business issues and recommending best practices. They will solve complex Operations-related problems and work independently with minimal guidance. They may lead functional teams or projects and are regarded as a specialist in Operations, requiring in-depth expertise and broad knowledge within the Fabrication function.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or relevant discipline
- 5 to 7 years of experience in the Offshore Industry
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience
- Knowledge of design and offshore project execution
Responsibilities:
- Review and approve installation procedures and engineering to ensure safety, compliance, and good practices
- Supervise Field Engineers in planning and executing offshore projects
- Oversee material list preparation and liaise with procurement
- Resolve technical issues during offshore installation and support corrective actions
- Coordinate with Fabrication/Loadout Contractors and provide marine support equipment and logistics
- Develop scope of work, assist in subcontract awards, and coordinate activities
- Review invoices for accuracy
- Contribute to tender processes as needed
- Ensure conformance to procedures for wire rope and rigging applications
- Manage project fabrication coordination across departments
- Identify resource needs and report on fabrication status with minimal guidance
- Lead fabrication execution strategy and guide multi-discipline teams
- Manage project progress, productivity, and schedule adherence
- Report fabrication status, issues, and mitigation plans to management
- Coordinate fabrication bid efforts and ensure timely deliverables
- Interface with project personnel across functions
- Ensure documentation and procedural compliance
- Establish relationships with clients and third parties
- Conduct HAZID and readiness meetings
- Manage scope changes and update estimates accordingly
- Chair project kick-off meetings
