Job Summary
- Responsible for defining and ensuring new product quality requirements.
- Ensure that manufactured products meet established product and process quality standards.
- Handle customer complaint resolution and improve product warranty processes.
- Develop, review, and monitor the effectiveness of quality control procedures and processes, proposing and implementing improvements as needed.
- Ensure closure of internal and external audit findings, including product safety audits.
- Supervise QMM technicians to ensure efficiency in quality management processes.
- Lead process improvement projects and update management on outcomes.
- Resolve quality issues through problem-solving methodologies such as PSS/8D.
- Create and maintain inspection plans for in-process (EQ, FQ) and outgoing (VQ) inspections.
- Approve component first article inspections (ISIR) and incoming part inspection plans, including cost reduction initiatives.
- Monitor and report KPIs timely and develop action plans accordingly.
- Perform other tasks or responsibilities as assigned by superiors.
New Product Introduction
- Manage start-up projects, warranties, customer complaints, first article approvals (ISIR), reliability testing (QZ), etc.
- Conduct product qualification tests to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Participate actively in FEP, QG, FMEA, CP, and production line releases.
- Prepare test plans, inspection plans (EP), QZ test plans, and FQ/VQ checklists.
- Train QMM test technicians on inspection plans and checklists.
- Collaborate with service centers to assess product quality in the market.
- Coordinate project testing, investigate failures, and ensure corrective actions are closed looped.
- Handle part release and incoming inspection planning.
- Ensure all ISIR requirements are fulfilled before release, e.g., S, F, L, and Cpk > 1.33.
- Align measurement methodologies between PgP2 and suppliers.
- Prepare fixtures, including short endurance tests for VQ/FQ audits, before pilot production.
- Lead Q-VSM processes to ensure requirements are met during the pilot stage.
Operation Support / Value Stream Quality
- Ensure product and process quality within the value stream, supporting performance improvements.
- Manage quality during process changes, sorting, rework, concessions, customer complaints, etc.
- Oversee quality management of ALR, plant relocations, new lines/equipment, machine/process parameters, and software buyoff.
- Support supplier incoming material quality issues and conduct 8D verification and evaluation.
- Assist in cost-saving initiatives, sourcing alternatives, and change approvals.
- Review CP and FMEA regularly with production teams.
- Conduct failure analysis on warranty complaints and drive improvements.
- Verify ANDI contents before release and ensure correct implementation.
- Perform periodic audits for line and process compliance.
- Investigate non-conformance incidents with cross-functional teams.
- Drive cross-functional quality process improvements (e.g., Q-VSM, functional test gates, MES data analysis).
- Manage plant-to-plant quality complaints and product transfer quality measures.
- Lead monthly quality meetings and warranty analysis reporting.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, or Science.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin skills preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in manufacturing environments, including engineering, quality, or project management.
- Strong technical report writing skills, including data analysis and action recommendations.
- Experience with plastic molding, metal stamping, turn parts, PCBA, die-casting, or hardening parts; knowledge of software coding is an advantage.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, TS16949, EN standards, and product safety requirements (e.g., UL, CSA).
- Familiarity with statistical QC tools, measurement methods, FMEA, MSA, SPC, etc.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and operate measurement equipment like CMM, vision scope, profile projector, gear profile, and hardness testers.
- Hands-on experience in failure analysis and problem-solving methodologies such as 5 Why’s, RCA, fault tree analysis, etc.
