• To ensure the integrity and reliability of all instrument equipment, focusing on plant systems including Distributed Control System (DCS), SGS (Safeguarding System), FGS (Fire & Gas System), and all third-party package systems such as machinery control systems.
• To provide technical advice on all instrument system modifications in the plant, ensuring compliance with legal standards, HRC standards, best practices, and company standards.

Main Accountabilities

• Ensure all instrument system activities are conducted in accordance with HSSE practices and procedures.
• Advise on instrument system reliability improvements, develop maintenance strategies, and audit compliance with asset management, inspection, and maintenance procedures and standards.
• Provide team leadership in instrument system reliability and bad actor programs. Identify problems with system equipment, provide detailed failure/root cause analysis, and advise on improvements/solutions.
• Ensure implementation of preventive maintenance routines derived from specific studies (RRM, RCM, IPF, etc.).
• Provide technical advice and coaching to plant maintenance and operations personnel.
• Coordinate instrument system-related work (e.g., projects, turnarounds), including scoping, scheduling, and execution.
• Provide cost-effective maintenance and system management for all instrument systems, including process control domain equipment.
• Monitor and measure performance of instrument system equipment.
• Provide technical advice on all instrument system modifications to ensure legal, DEP, best practices, and company standard compliance.
• Ensure cost optimization through LEAN, waste elimination, and cost transparency initiatives.

Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, preferably in Electrical/Electronics/Computer Systems or equivalent.
• Minimum 6 to 8 years of experience dealing with DCS, safeguarding systems, PCAD, Fire & Gas systems.
• Detailed knowledge of control logic and system configuration, especially Honeywell TDC 3000, Experion C300, Siemens S7 PLC, Allen Bradley PLC, is an advantage.
• Knowledge of networking protocols and cybersecurity.
• Well-versed with HSSE requirements, safety procedures, hazard management, Shell DEP, operational manuals, and other relevant local standards.
• Good understanding of equipment requirements for hazardous zoned areas according to IEC60079.
• Project experience in development, detailed engineering, and execution.
• Understanding of IT requirements in the Oil & Gas industry.
