Job Scope:

The incumbent is responsible for providing a best-in-class customer onboarding experience to support the company's business by assessing risks and approving or declining applicants within underwriting guidelines and compliance regulations. The complexity of the insurance business requires the incumbent to acquire strong technical underwriting skills, demonstrate good leadership, be a team player, customer-oriented, and possess supervisory skills. The incumbent is also required to work closely with other departments to deliver exceptional PRUexperience Service to customers.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Underwrite and approve referral cases from subordinates in accordance with prioritization and within the agreed Turnaround Time.
  2. Process applications in accordance with underwriting guidelines, compliance regulations, and corporate requirements.
  3. Motivate subordinates to achieve expected productivity, quality, and performance.
  4. Coach and guide subordinates to acquire skills necessary for effective performance and delivering exceptional PRUexperience Service.
  5. Handle enquiries and provide immediate responses to the Agency Development team and Agency or Banca teams.
  6. Assist superiors in delivering training plans to subordinates. Participate in team discussions, case studies, and sharing sessions.
  7. Monitor and review work systems and processes for effective and efficient departmental operations.
  8. Highlight issues, provide feedback, suggestions, or opportunities for improvement to management.
  9. Perform related duties and tasks as assigned by superiors from time to time.
Job Specification:
Qualifications
  • A degree in Biomedical Science, Biology, Health Science, or related fields in human biology or public health.
Experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in life and health insurance underwriting, or a relevant degree with at least 3 years of experience.

  • Excellent technical underwriting skills
  • Confident decision-making abilities
  • Coaching and team development skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle and resolve customer enquiries through empathetic verbal and written communication
