Job description

As part of the Global Operation & Excellence team, you will report to the Global Procurement Process Excellence and Insights Manager. You will work closely with the Global Base Oil team & local Procurement Hubs in Hungary, US, India, China & Malaysia/Australia.

  1. Accountable for the development and implementation of an optimized Base Oil sourcing strategy working with the IST Asset Economy Team.
  2. Develop and maintain relationships with business partners to ensure the base oil strategy supports the overall business strategy.
  3. Develop Base Oil margins analytics and monitor market trends.
  4. Collaborate with BP Trading and Shipping to utilize Linear Programming Optimization tools for refinery economics analysis.
  5. Manage relationships with External Base Oil price reporting agencies.
  6. Implement strategic sourcing processes aligned with the base oil strategy and business objectives.
  7. Analyze supplier data to optimize lubricant assets across base oil, trading, and sourcing.
  8. Engage with suppliers to communicate BP's expectations and develop improvement programs.
  9. Conduct procurement and IST activities according to corporate policies, governance, and authority delegations.
  10. Review and improve contract coverage and quality with key suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Contribute to the development of the base oil strategy, plans, and priorities, identifying opportunities for value leverage or risk mitigation.
  2. Understand the evolving position of the category on the procurement landscape and its impact on strategies.
  3. Utilize IST capabilities to optimize base oil sourcing based on the lubricants base oil strategy.
  4. Challenge and improve the base oil sourcing strategy to maximize value from IST capabilities.
  5. Monitor risk levels and provide management reports on risk assessments.
  6. Profile the sourcing group to understand the supply base and categorize suppliers appropriately.
  7. Develop the supplier portfolio through a consistent selection process.
  8. Identify and evaluate sourcing strategies, conduct risk analysis, and document strategies.
  9. Ensure all sourcing arrangements comply with social, environmental, financial, and HSSE policies, including authority and regulation requirements.
  10. Learn from BIC improvements and cross-collaborate with other managers to enhance category performance.
  11. Support the development and implementation of standard procurement processes.
  12. Engage with key business partners and IST teams.
  13. Provide timely supply market insights and manage supply issues proactively.
  14. Collaborate with GSC and IST shipping to prevent stock outs.
  15. Manage supplier relationships, including performance data collection and supplier meetings.
  16. Lead key suppliers in continuous improvement initiatives through cost and value analysis.
Essential Education, Experience, and Job Requirements
  1. University degree or equivalent experience in a relevant technical or commercial field.
  2. Experience in raw material procurement within global businesses, with advanced sourcing methodologies.
  3. Proven track record in developing and implementing global sourcing strategies, delivering multi-year business value, and familiarity with tools like E-optimization and AT Kearney Chessboard.
