Job description

Report to the Head of the Legal Department (HOD) and/or directly to the Group Chief Executive Officer and/or Executive Directors of the Company's Group.

Handle all legal-related tasks for the Company's Group (including the company's holding companies, subsidiaries, related companies, and associated entities) as instructed by the HOD.

Draft and/or review all forms of agreements, including but not limited to memorandums of agreement, joint venture agreements, sale and purchase agreements, service agreements, tenancy agreements, lease agreements, terms of engagement, memorandums of understanding, deeds, undertakings, merger & acquisition agreements, EPCC agreements, etc., concerning various transactions of the Group.

Review all correspondence, agreements, and contracts on a case-by-case basis upon request from other departments and with approval from the HOD.

Identify, manage, and mitigate legal risk issues across the Company's Group.

Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations, and the requirements of professional bodies and other organizations.

Ensure proper execution and administration of contracts, agreements, and legal documents.

Stay updated on changes in commercial law and prepare write-ups or notes on topical issues for use across the Company's Group.

Prepare legal reports and assist in the development of business proposals for the Executive Directors.

Manage and oversee litigation, arbitration, and legal matters handled by external counsel, and liaise with external legal advisors.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Company's Group and/or HOD from time to time.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Possess at least a Bachelor's Degree in Law or equivalent.

Experience in Corporate or in-house legal work; litigation experience is an advantage.

Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Being called to the Bar is an added advantage.

Willing to travel outstation on short notice.

Excellent communication skills and knowledge of legal matters.

Proficiency in Malay and English.

Ability to work independently and in a team, and to meet deadlines.
