Job Objective / Summary
This position is responsible for managing raw materials purchasing activities and inventory planning. This role ensures that the right materials are purchased at the right time, in the right quantities, and at the right price. The Purchasing Planner will work closely with suppliers, internal teams, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless supply chain management.
Main Duties And Responsibilities
- Inventory Management:
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure there is enough stock to meet demand while avoiding overstock.
- Coordinate with the warehouse or logistics teams to ensure smooth flow and proper storage of materials.
- Procurement Planning:
- Plan and schedule material procurement based on production requirements or sales forecasts.
- Develop and maintain purchasing schedules to ensure timely availability of materials.
- Order Management:
- Generate and process purchase orders for required materials or products.
- Ensure purchase orders are delivered on time and match specifications.
- Forecasting and Demand Planning:
- Work with relevant stakeholders to forecast future demand for materials or products.
- Adjust procurement plans based on changes in demand, forecast, or production schedules.
- Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyze procurement data and market trends to inform purchasing decisions.
- Prepare reports on procurement activities, inventory levels, and supplier performance for management.
- Cost Control:
- Analyze material costs and explore opportunities to reduce procurement expenses without compromising quality or delivery.
- Ensure purchases align with the company’s budget and financial goals.
- Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, industry standards, and legal regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of purchase orders and relevant documents.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Evaluate procurement processes regularly and recommend improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance supplier performance.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with production, planning, and finance teams to understand needs and align procurement strategies with business goals.
- Assist in resolving issues related to procurement, such as late deliveries, quality concerns, or discrepancies.
Job Requirements
- Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in any business-related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, or inventory management processes.
- Proficiency in data analysis, Excel, or other procurement planning tools.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and handle time-sensitive situations.
- Behavioral Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Malay and English.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain good relationships with internal stakeholders.
- Positive attitude and a good team player, capable of working independently with limited supervision.
- Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
- Knowledge of SAP is an advantage.
