THIS POSITION WILL BE BASED IN R&D CENTRE AT BUKIT RAJA, KLANG, SELANGOR.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify the chemical composition, properties, and behaviour of substances through analytical techniques such as spectroscopy, chromatography, and electrophoresis.
  • Part of the research and development team.
  • Major part of the work is conducting end-to-end tests and experiments, but also developing new analytical methods and managing laboratory logistics and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide technical knowledge and scientific insight as well as hands-on execution to develop, validate and transfer analytical methods as directed by the Assistant Principal Researcher and Head of Basic Research.
  • Perform physical and chemical analysis of raw materials, in-process and finished oleochemical and its derivatives products according to compendial or non-routine approaches to solve challenging technical problems related to purity, manufacturing, stability and others.
  • Interpret analytical results using appropriate statistical tests and write technical reports to provide to sales and business units, manufacturers, and technical service teams.
  • Actively provide analytical support to applied research and synthesis teams in developing new products.
  • Prepare reports and present to top management on research and project updates/outcomes.
  • Support any laboratory activities to include general upkeep as well as chemical storage and movement and equipment usage and maintenance.

JOB SUCCESS REQUIREMENTS

  • A PhD or Master in Chemistry with more than 8 years of working experience as an analytical chemist in an academic or industrial laboratory.
  • Life sciences graduates will not be considered.
  • Ability to achieve and maintain high standards with meticulous attention to detail. Prior experience developing analytical methods is preferred.
  • High-level creativity and productivity with strong analytical chemistry problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work accurately in a busy and demanding environment, adhering to strict deadlines/timescales.
  • The ability to effectively collaborate with international interdisciplinary teams of researchers, and to capture and maintain appropriate records and effectively communicate results is essential.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
