Job description

The Assistant QC Manager leads product testing and quality improvement initiatives for automotive starters, generators, and related components in the Johor plant. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with IATF 16949 standards, driving defect reduction, and enhancing product reliability through systematic quality control processes.

Product Testing & Validation
  1. Design and execute product testing plans for starters/generators, ensuring compliance with automotive specifications.
  2. Manage testing equipment calibration and maintenance (e.g., dynamometers), maintaining testing accuracy.
Quality Improvement Initiatives
  1. Resolve critical defects (e.g., insulation failure, bearing wear), reducing customer complaint rates.
  2. Supervise 5–10 QC technicians, conduct cross-skilling programs, and ensure on-time test report delivery ≥95%.
Quality System & Compliance
  1. Maintain IATF 16949 documentation, conduct internal audits, and prepare for customer audits with zero major non-conformities.
  2. Enforce DOSH safety protocols for ESD protection and chemical handling in testing labs.
Reporting
  1. Using ERP systems, prepare weekly/monthly testing reports and document activities to contribute to strategic decision-making.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  2. 5+ years in automotive QC, with 2+ years in supervisory roles (starters/generators preferred).
  3. Experience in high-volume testing and automotive audits (CQE preferred).
  4. Proficiency in IATF 16949 standards and equipment troubleshooting and failure analysis.
  5. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  6. Bilingual in English & Chinese for cross-department coordination.
