Operate steam boiler and ensure safety operating procedures are compliant with DOSH/JKKP and the Factory and Machinery Act 1967.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Oversee the boiler operation and auxiliary equipment to ensure they are at optimum operating condition.
  2. Responsible for the start-up and shutdown of utility systems, ensuring seamless and safe operations.
  3. Maintain and monitor boiler and cooling tower water treatment and analysis programs.
  4. Participate in annual inspection activities related to maintenance, checking, repair, and commissioning.
  5. Respond promptly to boiler breakdowns, perform necessary repairs, and restore operations efficiently.
  6. Report any damage, intentional or unintentional, immediately to superiors for appropriate action.
  7. Routine monitoring and operation of boiler and utility systems, ensuring checklists, logbooks, and reports are accurately maintained and updated.
  8. Support periodic inspections of the steam distribution system during production and non-production periods, ensuring optimal performance of pressure-reducing stations, valves, safety valves, and steam traps.
  9. Respond to and support utilities equipment breakdowns.
  10. Supervise external contractors’ work/services and monitor their performance.
  11. Perform other ad hoc tasks and assignments as directed by superiors.

Educational Background: Must possess a valid Boilerman Grade 1 certification by DOSH.

Working Experience: Minimum 3 years in boiler & utilities operation and maintenance in the manufacturing industry.

Required Knowledge:

  • Hands-on experience in steam boilers operation, maintenance, troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience in utilities operation and maintenance.
  • Good knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Good knowledge of boiler and cooling tower water treatment.
  • Strong knowledge of steam boiler systems and safety regulations.
