What are we looking for?
We're looking for a
People Operations Partner to drive smooth, compliant, and engaging people processes. You'll manage payroll, support onboarding, performance, and recruitment, and help foster a strong team culture. This is a hands-on role at the heart of our scaling journey. If you're detail-oriented, proactive, and you have a passion for people, we'd love to hear from you.
This position reports directly to the Director of Operations.
Core Responsibilities:
Payroll & Compliance
- Manage end-to-end monthly payroll for Malaysia and other entities, and coordinate with payroll partners to ensure accuracy and timely processing
- Stay up to date with local labour laws and statutory requirements in Malaysia and other operating locations.
People Operations
- Maintain accurate employee records and documentation in relevant systems
- Support onboarding and offboarding workflows, working closely with service partners
- Support review, optimize, and document people-related workflows and policies
- Drive People Ops programs and initiatives to enhance employee experience and efficiency
Workplace Experience And Community
- Act as primary liaison with premises vendors, creating a welcoming, productive workplace
- Design and run local team social events, celebrations and community building activities
- Coorindate company offsites, team meetups, and cross-functional gatherings
Performance and Engagement
- Assist with performance review and promotion cycles
- Support the tracking and follow-up of employee engagement activities and programs
Recruitment
- Coordinate interview processes, communicate with applicants and assist in candidate selection
- Oversee the upkeep of Applicant Tracking System (ATS), coordinate across recruitment channels and stakeholders
- Use ATS data to improve candidate experience and recruitment efficiency
Compensation And Reward
- Research on market compensation benchmarking to inform internal salary planning
- Assist in the administration of bonuses, ESOP, and other reward programs
C-Level Diary Management & Support
- Provide calendar management and meeting coordination for C-level executives, representing 5% of day-to-day responsibility
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in client-facing People/HR operations or generalist roles, preferably in tech or high-growth environments
- Demonstrated experience in managing and executing payroll and statutory contributions in Malaysia end-to-end
- Working knowledge of employment legislation and practices in Malaysia; Singapore and any other locations will be an asset
- Experience supporting managers during the rollout of company-wide HR programs, including performance reviews, compensation planning, and talent reviews
- Experience working with Employer of Record is desired
- Familiarity of diary management of executives is a plus
- Strong integrity and a sense of ownership, taking full accountability for tasks and outcomes
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and calm under pressure
- Comfortable juggling multiple responsibilities and shifting priorities
- Strong ability to diagnose problems using data and develop viable solutions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels
- Ability to work independently and as a reliable team member
- Experience working in a globally distributed tech start-up or high-growth environment
