The Outsourcing Buyer’s primary function is to build an extensive network of outsourcing activities and processes while ensuring timely deliverables at an affordable level, maintaining quality build. This position requires daily interaction with multiple internal and external stakeholders to drive timely deliveries at competitive costs while maintaining a high service level.

This role demands strong knowledge of the machining process and an extensive network of suppliers capable of meeting FTMM's metal machining requirements within short turnaround times. The Outsourcing Buyer sources and identifies potential suppliers, manages outsourcing activities, and ensures suppliers meet standards for deliverables, quality, and cost efficiency.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  1. Constant exploration of the market to identify potential partners for development and outsourcing programs.
  2. Participate in benchmarking exercises to evaluate industry standards, select new suppliers, and develop supplier site certification programs. Lead outsourcing management strategy development and implementation.
  3. Lead supplier qualification and assessment to include suppliers on the approved vendor list (AVL).
  4. Maintain close communication with suppliers regarding their production capacities, readiness, and material supply.
  5. Provide input for outsourcing activities and manage contract documentation.
  6. Manage outsource packages within budget and costs, including negotiating disputes in the best interest of the company per contractual provisions.
  7. Review standard subcontracts to ensure compliance with contracting policies before execution.
  8. Prepare project-specific flow-downs from the prime contract.
  9. Undertake other roles and responsibilities as assigned by the company and immediate superior until full closure.

REQUIREMENTS / SKILLSET:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years in an outsourcing role, preferably in metal machining.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with MRP / ERP systems; SAP experience is an advantage.
  • Extensive knowledge of outsourcing activities related to metal machining, with a wide network of suppliers.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Good communication skills in English; proficiency in Mandarin is an added advantage.
