Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Executive to join our growing legal team in the construction/property development sector. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of construction law, real estate transactions, contract management, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, sale and purchase agreements, tenancy agreements, and other related legal documents to ensure compliance with local laws and industry standards.
  2. Litigation Support: Assist in managing litigation matters, including coordinating with external legal counsel, preparing documentation for court cases, and representing the company in disputes related to construction, property development, and contract matters.
  3. Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and ensure the company’s operations comply with relevant local laws, including CIDB regulations, property development laws, and other industry-specific regulations.
  4. Document Management: Maintain and update a comprehensive database of all legal documents, agreements, and contracts related to projects, ensuring easy retrieval and proper organization.
  5. Dispute Resolution: Assist in resolving legal disputes in the construction and property development process through negotiations, mediation, and, when necessary, litigation.
  6. Legal Research: Stay updated on the latest developments in construction law, property law, and legal trends to provide accurate and timely advice to the company.

Requirements:

  1. Education: Degree in Law from a recognized university.
  2. Experience: At least 3 years of relevant legal experience in the corporate & commercial sector, with knowledge of construction contracts, real estate transactions, and legal compliance in Malaysia.
  3. Skills: Strong legal research, drafting, and negotiation skills; good knowledge of construction and property development laws in Malaysia; familiarity with CIDB, Strata Titles Act, Land Acquisition Act, and related legislation; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal document management software; excellent communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia; knowledge of Mandarin is a plus.
  4. Attributes: Detail-oriented, responsible, able to work independently and in a team, proactive, organized, and able to handle multiple tasks under pressure.

Location: Based in Petaling Jaya, with occasional travel to project sites if required.
