Job description

The HSE Coordinator will lead the Health, Safety, and Environment Department in implementing and maintaining safety, health, and environmental programs to ensure a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace. The role involves assisting in the development, implementation, and monitoring of policies, procedures, and training programs to meet regulatory requirements and company standards.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Development, implementation, and enforcement of safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
  2. Conduct workplace inspections and HSE committee meetings.
  3. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement preventive measures.
  4. Maintain supplies inventory, check stock levels, anticipate needs, and manage procurement.
  5. Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and contractors.
  6. Conduct risk assessments and job hazard analyses.
  7. Manage waste disposal activities in accordance with legal requirements.
  8. Prepare and maintain HSE regulatory reports and records.
  9. Develop and implement emergency response and crisis management plans.
  10. Provide administrative support to ensure departmental operations.
  11. Advise management on legal requirements related to safety, health, and environment.
  12. Liaise with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with HSE legislation and drive continuous improvement in the HSE system.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned by superiors.
Minimum & Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in HSE is advantageous.
  • At least 3 years of experience in HSE, preferably in the manufacturing industry.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Good knowledge of relevant laws and regulations such as the OSH Act and Environmental Act.
  • Safety and Health Officer Certification is required; possession of a Green Book is an advantage.
Additional Certifications (preferred but not mandatory):
  • CePSWaM - Certified Environmental Professional for scheduled waste management.
  • CePBFO - Certified Environmental Professional in Bag Filter.
Education:

Minimum Diploma or equivalent.
