We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Helper to join our team at our authentic Japanese restaurant. The ideal candidate will assist in food preparation, maintain cleanliness in the kitchen, and support the chefs in day-to-day kitchen operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in basic food preparation (e.g., washing vegetables, cutting ingredients, preparing sushi rice).
- Support chefs with mise en place and plating during service.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, workstations, and utensils.
- Wash dishes, tools, and cooking equipment in a timely manner.
- Ensure proper food storage and handling in accordance with hygiene standards.
- Receive, label, and store deliveries of food and supplies.
- Dispose of kitchen waste properly and follow recycling protocols.
- Assist in cleaning and closing duties at the end of shifts.
- Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines at all times.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a kitchen helper or in a similar role (preferred but not required).
- Willingness to learn Japanese cuisine and cooking techniques.
- Basic understanding of kitchen safety and hygiene.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Physically fit; able to stand for long periods and lift moderate loads.
- Team player with good communication skills.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
