Part-time (50%) Tenure Track Assistant Professorship in Adult Clinical Psychedelic Research
The Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Copenhagen (UCPH), invites excellent candidates for a part-time (50%) tenure track assistant professorship in adult clinical psychedelic research.
The position is available from August 1st, 2025, or as soon as possible thereafter.
A tenure-track assistant professorship is a six-year, fixed-term academic position involving both research and teaching. The successful candidate will be obliged to complete a teacher-training course designed especially for assistant professors and will be expected to be able to take part in all the activities of the Department, including examinations and administration.
Approximately six months before the end of the six-year period as tenure-track assistant professor, a committee set up by the Dean will assess whether the assistant professor can be considered for promotion to a tenured position as associate professor.

Introduction
The Department of Psychology has a strong commitment to basic and applied research as well as emphasis on post-gradual training activities, and outreach to society, and is organized in research clusters and groups with associated post-graduate students and postdocs.
Education at the Department of Psychology is directed towards the psychological profession and is characterized by a high level with respect to theoretical, methodological, and applied contents. Teaching is also oriented towards other scientific disciplines and the department takes part in several interdisciplinary academic programs which will be of particular importance to this position.
Copenhagen University Clinic for Psychedelic Research (NOESIS)
NOESIS is a research clinic at the Department of Psychology that investigates psychological and clinical aspects of psychedelic treatment, primarily using the psychedelic drug psilocybin. The clinic houses a number of clinical studies and collaborates closely with both national and international psychedelic research groups.
The successful candidate will be affiliated with NOESIS, and it is vital that the candidate has the capacity to serve as medical principal investigator in the clinical psychedelic trials that are undertaken at the clinic, including protocol writing and contract negotiation with manufacturers of psychedelic medicines. It is also vital that the candidate has an interest in developing research in psychedelic treatments in the clinic with a particular focus on establishing and maintaining medical infrastructure needed to conduct clinical psychedelic research. In addition to their own research, it is important that the candidate can drive and support ongoing and future research projects at NOESIS and the Department which relates to clinical psychology and psychedelic research more broadly, including collaborations with international partners. It will be expected that the successful candidate can supervise medical personnel and students associated with the clinic, and that the successful candidate will be physically located at the clinic 50% of their time.
With regard to teaching, the successful candidate is expected to contribute to and develop research-based teaching in clinical psychology with a particular focus on psychedelic treatment and science, including Master’s level courses in psychedelic treatments and research, including direct involvement of students in ongoing psychedelic clinical trials (practical courses), and supervision of Master’s theses. A special emphasis will be put on the interdisciplinary nature of psychedelic research.

Qualifications
For the position, the candidate must hold a Master’s degree in medicine and a PhD degree in psychiatry. Applicants for the part-time assistant professorship must be able to document original scholarly production at an international high level with a strong focus on psychedelic science. Previous experience with clinical psychedelic trials is required, including experience with medical monitoring of psychedelic sessions. We expect that the successful candidate has knowledge about logistic and regulatory aspects of clinical psychedelic research. The candidate must also be fluent in Danish as monitoring psychedelic sessions with Danish patients is part of the tasks associated with the position.

In order to be assessed qualified for a tenure-track assistant professor position at the University of Copenhagen, the candidate must meet the University’s criteria of academic merit.

In addition, a successful candidate has documented original academic production within the field of psychedelic research, experience with conducting clinical psychedelic trials, including regulatory approval, data handling and monitoring (GCP), strong ability to collaborate with professionals (clinicians, mental health professionals etc.) and in interdisciplinary teams, a commitment to working as part of a team and assisting in the smooth running of the department and its teaching programs, strong interpersonal and networking skills.
Terms of Employment
Employment with the Faculty of Social Sciences and progression within employment will be determined only by personal merit. We do this by applying academic criteria of the University of Copenhagen, which are related to the duties and conditions of each particular post and the needs of the Department concerned.
Terms of appointment and salary is in accordance with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (Akademikerne).
