The Head of L&D will lead and shape MR D.I.Y. International Learning & Development strategy, ensuring the continuous upskilling of a diverse workforce across the organization, corporate functions, and leadership roles.

This role is accountable for building internal capabilities to support rapid expansion, operational excellence, and leadership readiness across all business lines.

Responsibilities:

Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and drive the enterprise-wide L&D strategy aligned with MR D.I.Y.’s business goals, growth trajectory, and evolving talent needs.
  • Champion a learning culture that supports frontline excellence, functional upskilling, and leadership development. Provide strategic oversight of the L&D function across Malaysia and international entities.

Capability Building & Learning Architecture

  • Design and implement scalable learning frameworks, curricula, and content.
  • Oversee signature programmes including onboarding, leadership pipeline development, and general training initiatives.
  • Embed the 70:20:10 learning philosophy into day-to-day operations.

Talent Development & Succession Readiness

  • Partner with the Talent team to assess capability gaps and develop programmes for high-potential talent, succession pipelines, and future leaders.
  • Launch targeted development journeys to address current and future capability needs.

Stakeholder Management & Business Partnership

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across functions to customize learning interventions.
  • Influence senior leadership on the ROI and business value of L&D initiatives.

Governance & Budget

  • Ensure compliance with HRDC/HRDF requirements and maximize grants/funding opportunities.
  • Manage the L&D budget effectively, ensuring cost-efficient learning delivery without compromising quality.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Education, Psychology, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in Learning & Development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a large-scale, fast-paced organization.
  • Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate business needs into learning outcomes.
  • Hands-on execution capabilities, especially in fast-paced environments.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Passionate about building people and organizational capability.
