· Assist the Pharmacy Manager to ensure the smooth operation of the pharmacy.
· Assist in the dispensing and distribution of drugs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the day-to-day supervision of pharmacy technicians.
- Screen incoming prescriptions.
- Ensure medication orders are entered into the dispensing program accurately and software is used correctly.
- Fill prescriptions according to given directions.
- Maintain accurate dispensing records, label medications correctly with drug name, strength, quantity, directions, patient's name, and additional info. Conduct second checks on all dispensed medication.
- Adhere to policies and procedures for dispensing medicines, especially for controlled and expensive drugs.
- Verify that the correct medication and prescription are given, confirming details on the prescription and label, and dosage instructions.
- Provide clear instructions to outpatients and discharged patients in a language they understand.
- Compound preparations as required by nursing units.
- Dispatch drugs to nursing units securely and carefully.
- Coordinate with the clinical team regarding patient medications.
- Record requisitions accurately.
- Follow SOPs for storage, recording, and requisition of drugs.
- Maintain minimum stock levels, check expiry dates, and ensure proper storage.
- Prepare purchase orders, process invoices, and update prices.
- Generate reports on medication utilization, billing, and inventory levels.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper condition of dispensary equipment.
- Ensure safe storage of returned and expired medications.
- Provide orientation and training to new pharmacy staff.
- Communicate effectively with the dispensing team to ensure accurate information exchange.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Requirements:
- Diploma in Pharmacy or a license issued by the Ministry of Health.
- Proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia (written and spoken).
- Knowledge of drug names and pharmacy math.
- Computer literacy.
