Job description

Job Summary

To provide the necessary legal services as required/assigned which shall include the review of existing laws governed by the Commission, developing new laws identified to complement the existing legal framework (based on the policies set by the Commission), drafting of laws and providing input to external parties in respect of other legislations or international treaties which directly and/or indirectly impacts the Commission.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Review the existing laws governed by the Commission and develop new laws identified to complement the existing legal framework, based on the policies set by the Commission, to ensure that the laws remain relevant and feasible in regulating the communications and multimedia industry;
  2. Draft the proposed amendments to the laws/new laws, to ensure that the same are in order and are in line with the policies determined;
  3. Draft the feedback in respect of other laws or international treaties which directly and/or indirectly impacts the Commission, to ensure that the same are in order and safeguard the interest of the Commission;
  4. Attend meetings and/or discussions with internal and/or external stakeholders in respect of the review of the laws, etc., which may include organizing workshops, etc. in soliciting feedback, to ensure that the laws amended and/or developed addresses the needs of the stakeholders; and
  5. Attend meetings and/or discussions in respect of respect of other laws or international treaties that directly and/or indirectly impact the Commission, to ensure that the Commission’s interest is duly safeguarded.

Qualification & Work Experience

  • Candidate must possess at least a LLB (Hons) from a reputable university with a minimum CGPA of 3.0;
  • A member of the Malaysian Bar will be an added advantage;
  • Minimum 2-4 years of working experience. Exposure in handling litigation matters will be an added advantage.
  • Exposure to communications and multimedia laws will be an added advantage
