Microbiologist cum Quality Assurance Executive
About the role
We are seeking a talented Microbiologist cum Quality Assurance Executive to join our team at The Inside Scoop Sdn Bhd in Larut, Matang and Selama District Perak. In this full-time position, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and safety of our food products, contributing to the overall success of our manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Microbiological Testing:
- Conduct routine microbiological analysis of raw materials, water, air, and finished products (including ice cream, milk, and butter).
- Identify, isolate, and quantify microorganisms such as TPC, coliforms, E. coli, etc.
- Ensure and conduct analysis for environmental monitoring (swab tests, air quality, equipment surface testing).
- Monitor and verify cleaning and sanitation effectiveness via microbiological validation.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:- Ensure compliance with ISO 22000, HACCP, GMP, Halal, and company standards.
- Support internal audits and assist with third-party and regulatory inspections.
- Investigate and document deviations, non-conformities, complaints, and microbial contamination incidents.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of test results and QA records.
Process & Hygiene Monitoring:- Conduct routine hygiene inspections of production lines and utilities.
- Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to address hygiene gaps.
- Monitor and validate cleaning and sanitation procedures.
- Adhere to Good Laboratory Practices.
Training & System Development:- Train production and cleaning staff on good hygiene practices, food safety, and microbiological risks.
- Support the development and revision of SOPs, work instructions, and QA protocols.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor in Microbiology, Food Science & Technology, or related discipline.
- Certification: Preferably a Certified Microbiologist (registered under MJMM) or has successfully attended Proficiency Testing in Microbiology.
- Experience: 2–5 years in a food or dairy manufacturing QA/QC role, preferably ice cream or frozen dessert industry.
- Strong microbiological testing skills (plate count, rapid testing, swab testing, etc.).
- Familiarity with food safety systems – ISO 22000, HACCP, GMP, Halal.
- Good knowledge of CIP/COP and sanitation practices.
- Attention to detail, strong documentation, and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and training abilities.
Working Conditions:
- May involve shift work depending on production schedules.
- Work is conducted in microbiology lab and production environments.
