Job description

The SEA Head of Finance will be responsible for steering the financial direction of the company within the FMCG/Retail industry. The role involves strategy development, financial planning, and risk management in Kuala Lumpur.

Our client is an established leader in the FMCG/Retail industry with a global presence. Being a key industry player, they have a solid market position in Malaysia and are renowned for their high-quality products.

Description
  1. Lead end-to-end financial accounting, reporting, and cash management across Southeast Asia, ensuring compliance with internal controls and company financial policies. Partner with the SEA Leadership Team and Regional Finance Head to drive strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting aligned with business growth objectives.
  2. Provide consolidated business insights and performance analysis to guide market-level financial decisions and trade-offs between cost and service. Oversee cash flow and manage global/local funding needs.
  3. Serve as the key liaison for statutory accounting, tax, and compliance matters, offering guidance on local labor, customs, and regulatory issues. Own full P&L and balance sheet responsibilities.
  4. Shape the local finance function by developing high-performing teams and ensuring alignment with the broader finance agenda. Act as a strategic partner to cross-functional teams, delivering end-to-end P&L insights across channels, customers, and innovations to support growth and profitability.
  5. Maintain relationships with key stakeholders and financial institutions.
  6. Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues.
  7. Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards.
  8. Work closely with other department leads to drive the company's financial performance.
  9. Participate in corporate policy development as a member of the senior management team.
Profile

A successful SEA Head of Finance should have:

  1. A degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  2. Preferably someone chartered (ACCA/CPA/MIA or similar).
  3. Proven experience in a leadership role within the FMCG/Retail industry.
  4. Strong understanding of financial strategy and risk management.
  5. Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  6. Strong communication skills, capable of engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
  7. Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
