Assistant Category Manager/ Merchandiser, Foodline (AEON MaxValu)

- To accomplish company goals – to manage and set department sales, profit, and inventory, and determine how to achieve these targets.
- To provide guidance, direction, leadership, and support to merchandisers to ensure they can accomplish company goals.
- To follow up to ensure that plans are carried out effectively, guaranteeing their success.
- To review and assess the success of goals, plans, and the reliability of measurements of resources.
- To be responsible for maintaining positive relationships with all suppliers – negotiating products and prices, and evaluating new suppliers.
- To negotiate and foster good relationships with suppliers based on a win-win situation.
- To manage supplier contracts, rebate programs, and negotiate annual trading terms.
- To develop and implement planograms for product displays.
- To study and analyze sales productivity for new products, categories, and overall department sales.
- To monitor and maintain healthy inventory records and management.
- To train merchandisers on product knowledge.
- To analyze sales trends and adjust product offerings accordingly, identifying revenue-generating products and those underperforming, and making improvements based on market overview and current assortment.
- To attend and present proposals, reviews, and plans to top management on a monthly basis.
Job Specifications
- Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field. Minimum of 3-5 years of managerial experience in retail is required.
- Visual merchandising skills: knowledge of retail psychology principles to arrange products enticingly.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including negotiation and professional email correspondence.
- Organizational skills to implement promotion plans and manage inventory.
- Decision-making skills: ability to select suppliers, products, and display methods.
- Analytical skills: ability to interpret sales trends and market data for informed decision-making.
Working Conditions
- Must be able to work in Taman Maluri, KL.
- Able to travel for store visits, new store openings, and renovations.
