Senior Operations Manager, Landscaping

Salary: £70,000 to £75,000 + Car or Allowance & Package

Location: Office (Essex) & Site Based (mainly within the M25)

Type: Full Time & Permanent

This is an exciting opportunity to take a pivotal role in the growth and development of an established Specialist Landscaping company. Working together with colleagues and your team of Contract Managers, you will manage the day-to-day operations to create award-winning Podium Roof Landscapes. The company is the “go-to” resource for Contractors and Developers and has a strong forward order book, making this the perfect time to join their impressive growth.

The Job:

You will have overall responsibility for managing, safely delivering, and completing all Landscaping and Podium Roof Contracts, ensuring they meet specifications, are completed on time, and stay within budget. Working with Pre-Construction and Commercial colleagues, you will ensure projects are accurately planned to start on site. You will work with your team of Contracts Managers through to project completion and successful handover to clients.

You will oversee ongoing planning to ensure future commitments are resourced appropriately, manage labour and materials scheduling, and oversee all aspects of Health & Safety and financial review of completed work. Your responsibilities include:

• Ensuring all sites comply with H&S requirements
• Collaborating with internal & external design teams to ensure design feasibility
• Liaising with Pre-Construction and Commercial teams for project handover and understanding
• Ensuring the accuracy and feasibility of project programmes and site delivery plans
• Working with the Commercial Manager on CVRs and project budgets
• Providing accurate CVRs and financial reports for the division
• Allocating resources and managing construction teams effectively
• Ensuring staff and subcontractor competence and maximizing capability
• Reporting operational issues to Company Directors
• Ensuring contract specifications are met and managing variations
• Handling snagging items promptly for sign-off and handover
• Conducting post-completion reviews to improve estimating, delivery, and quality

The Person:

You should have several years’ experience in Landscaping and Podium Roof Installation, currently working as a Contracts Manager. You must be proficient in reading construction drawings, plans, and planting diagrams. Additional requirements include:

• Knowledge of Construction Contracts, Variations, and risk management
• Effective team leadership and commercial management skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Financial literacy and experience managing margins
• Understanding of technical, financial, and qualitative aspects of sub-contract projects
