We are looking for a thought leader and technical expert in a specific vertical (e.g., Financial Services, Telecommunications) to join the CXO Advisory team. This fast-growing, globally dispersed team works in an exciting space with nearly limitless opportunities for growth. Our team members are experienced practitioners and experts who work directly with the C-Suite of our clients on application modernization and related strategies, while also engaging with customer developers and speaking their language.

The Application Modernization Advisory team is a community of MongoDB experts delivering thought leadership and practical guidance for legacy modernization and application stack innovation. This encompasses not only database interactions but a holistic view of the entire application stack, including recent developments in Generative AI—both as a modernization tool and as a means to address future development challenges. The individual will engage with clients and continuously evolve approaches and concepts. Responsibilities include supporting executive sales conversations, developing sales materials, training sales teams, advising on modernization strategies, and leading modernization pilots and programs. Sometimes, technical direction may require diving into code. Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential, along with experience in software development and management of software projects.

You will collaborate with various internal functions such as sales, professional services, product, and marketing. Your role is crucial in winning deals, driving business growth, and serving as a trusted advisor to clients. The position can be remote within Europe, where MongoDB has an established presence.

Ideal candidate qualifications include:

• 20+ years in a specific vertical (e.g., Financial Services, Telecommunications) across multiple areas (e.g., application development, risk & treasury, retail, wealth management, banking, credit operations)
• 15+ years in software development and architecture
• 10+ years in IT management, including leading development teams
• Deep experience with various database products, ETL tools, database modeling and design
• Experience transforming legacy environments (e.g., Mainframe, DB2, Oracle PL/SQL) to microservices
• Excellent presentation and communication skills, capable of conveying complex information effectively
• Experience with scalable, highly available distributed systems
• Knowledge of diverse data technologies (RDBMS, Java, document, key-value, unstructured, NoSQL, ISM)
• Willingness to travel up to 50% for clients, events, and team meetings
