Job Responsibility

• Training in multimedia and communications helpful
• Proficiency in editing software programs
• General understanding of computers and digital equipment and knowledge of new and cutting-edge technology
• Ability to take and follow direction, while also having a creative eye for improvements
• Manipulate and edit film pieces in a way that is invisible to the audience
• Take a brief to grasp production team’s needs and specifications
• Review shooting script and raw material to create a shot decision list based on scenes’ value and contribution to continuity
• Trim footage segments and assemble the sequence of the film
• Input music, dialogues, graphics, and effects
• Create rough and final cuts
• Ensure logical sequencing and smooth running
• Consult with stakeholders from production to post-production process
• Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and industry’s best practices to maximize efficiency

Job Requirements

Job Overview

A successful Video Editor will be a creative individual with a background in media, art, communication, photography, videography, and/or technology. An ideal Video Editor has a combination of all to understand all elements of producing a finished quality film or video. While a college degree is not necessary, IT knowledge is helpful. Experience in working with film and video, and training in video production and editing software such as Final Cut Pro, are extremely helpful.

• Stay updated with the latest video editing trends and tools, including AI-assisted editing platforms
• Solid experience with digital technology and editing software packages (e.g., Avid Media Composer, Lightworks, Premiere, After Effects, Final Cut)
• Demonstrable video editing ability with a strong portfolio
• Thorough knowledge of timing, motivation, and continuity
• Familiarity with special effects, 3D, and compositing
• Creative mind and storytelling skills
