Manager, Business Development – Laboratory Services

As Manager, Business Development for Laboratory Services, the primary role is to lead and expand the lab's commercial offerings, promoting testing and analytical services to external clients. This role involves building strong customer relationships, developing sales strategies, managing departmental budgets, and ensuring client satisfaction in line with technical capabilities and standards.

Job Description
  1. Business Development & Sales Management:
  2. Develop and execute a sales strategy to grow the external laboratory services market.
  3. Identify, engage, and secure new business opportunities while nurturing existing client accounts.
  4. Meet or exceed sales targets and maintain a healthy pipeline of leads.
  5. Prepare and submit sales quotations, proposals, and tenders, with timely follow-ups.
  6. Update weekly, monthly, and annual sales plans and forecasts.

Customer Relationship Management:

  1. Build and maintain long-term relationships with customers across industries.
  2. Handle inquiries, resolve technical and service issues, and ensure high satisfaction.
  3. Arrange site visits, sample deliveries, and other client services.
  4. Follow up regularly to monitor satisfaction and encourage repeat business.

Collaboration with Technical Team:

  1. Work closely with lab chemists and technical staff to align client needs with testing capabilities.
  2. Ensure services meet industry standards, regulations, and client expectations.
  3. Translate client feedback into service improvements.

Financial and Operational Oversight:

  1. Manage the P&L of the division, including budgeting and revenue analysis.
  2. Monitor sales variances, implement corrective actions, and control costs.
  3. Ensure efficient operations contributing to profitability.

Reporting & Market Analysis:

  1. Provide updates on market trends, competitors, and opportunities.
  2. Generate performance reports and market intelligence.
  3. Recommend strategies to enhance competitiveness and visibility.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Chemistry, or related field.
  • 5–7 years of experience in laboratory sales or chemistry roles.
  • Certifications like ISO/IEC 17025 are advantageous.
  • Proven track record in client acquisition and revenue growth.
  • Knowledge of testing methods, standards, and compliance.
  • Proficiency in sales planning, quotation, and P&L management.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and CRM tools.
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel for client meetings and industry events.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
