The Logistics Manager-Export Container Shipping will have the responsibility to supervise and manage all aspects of logistics operations related to shipping. This role requires a highly skilled individual who can think strategically and possess strong leadership qualities. The ideal candidate should be capable of optimizing the supply chain processes that ensure efficient and cost-effective shipment of goods. The candidate should have extensive experience in logistics management, an in-depth understanding of industry best practices, and a proven track record of delivering results in a fast-paced environment. This position is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
INTERNAL KEY INTERFACES :
Trade Managers, Documentation, Finance & Treasury
EXTERNAL KEY INTERFACES :
Factory Planning Team, Forwarders, Shipping Line, Customers
KEY RESPONSIBILITY :
Liaise with Liners/forwarders to procure freight, keeping in mind the budget, P&L, equipment, payment term, transit and service delivery. Lead and drive cost reductions with freight forwarders and shipping lines.
Stay up-to-date on industry and market trends and share critical and indicative information with relevant stakeholders to facilitate strategic decision-making.
Liaise with factory to understand dynamic shipment plan and proactively arrange to meet shipping needs of customer as well as factory
Proactively and continuously co-ordinate and communicate with Customers as well as internal stakeholders on status of shipments. Support customers for FOB booking to ensure shipment as per plan
Focus on post shipment support by optimizing transit time as well as cost minimization of any post shipment charges.
Lead and manage personnel in logistics function. It will include:
Invoicing as well as freight payment management to ensure smooth release of Shipping documents by Liners/other parties
Closely monitor ETA and take proactive steps to ensure committed lead time are met. All relevant stakeholders are timely and periodically informed on progress
Data relating to lead time are maintained including destination-wise avg lead time for Shipping, freight database management and others
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCES:
5-10 year(s) of working experience in Logistics management (Shipping) with strong network in the industry
Familiar with shipping (Incoterms, L/C knowledge, B/L, Marine Insurance etc) in an export oriented environment.
Possesses strong leadership capabilities to lead a team in providing reliable and effective services to stakeholders. Demonstrates networking, persuasion, relationship building, and communication skills to develop and sustain effective working relationships.
A mature team player with strong interpersonal skills, resourcefulness, and self-motivation, who exhibits a high level of integrity. Has a proactive approach to problem-solving and suggests ways to improve the supply chain by giving new, creative, and innovative ideas. Has a growth mindset for personal development.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Bachelor Degree / Master’s in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Professional certification in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., APICS, CSCMP).
Prior experience in international logistics operations and customs regulations will be preferred.
