About the Role
A Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing efficient systems, processes, and machines that result in high-quality products. They also consider how manufacturing processes impact the environment.
Job Description
- Evaluate and develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment for efficient manufacture and assembly.
- Contribute to formulating and implementing production procedures, checklists, safe operating practices, proper waste management, and quality management systems.
- Improve current operations to enhance efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
- Ensure product and process quality by designing testing methods, testing finished products and process capabilities, establishing standards, and confirming manufacturing processes.
- Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating manpower requirements, jigs and fixture needs, cycle times, daily capacity, and machine suitability.
- Coordinate, implement, and complete risk reduction activities in production.
- Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Plan activities for reducing machine downtime, responding to breakdowns, and repairing equipment.
- Plan activities for improving yield, reducing scrap, and investigating/resolving product defects.
- Organize maintenance, services, spare parts requirements, and inventory control.
- Develop technical team competency programs, training, and guiding technicians.
- Liaise with cross-sectional staff and perform other tasks as assigned by management.
- Purchase materials and spare parts for repairs and improvements after approval from HOD.
- Determine suitability of models versus machines, manpower requirements, and capacity.
- Coordinate the implementation of new Engineering Change Notices (ECN) and Operation Standards (OS).
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Certificate in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
- At least 1-2 years of relevant experience, preferably in manufacturing.
- Knowledge and experience in box build assembly.
- Ability to communicate technical knowledge clearly.
- Ability to understand technical and product drawings.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 standards.
