We are seeking an experienced and driven Assistant Manager – Operations & Maintenance to support the ongoing reliability and performance of our broadband network infrastructure across Malaysia. The ideal candidate will have in-depth IP networking expertise and solid operational experience in telecommunications. A key part of the role is to lead and mentor a team of network engineers and field support personnel in delivering timely service fulfilment and restoration (i.e., break-fix operations), while ensuring regulatory compliance and service excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage day-to-day operations and maintenance of broadband network infrastructure, including core, access, and customer premises equipment.
  2. Lead, mentor, and coordinate a team of network engineers and field support staff to ensure high performance in service fulfilment (new installations, upgrades) and service restoration (break-fix and fault resolution).
  3. Supervise and evaluate external service providers, contractors, and vendors to ensure delivery aligns with agreed SLAs and standards.
  4. Ensure accurate and timely reporting to Malaysian regulatory bodies such as MCMC.
  5. Conduct technical root cause analysis and implement permanent solutions to prevent recurrence of service disruptions.
  6. Plan and execute scheduled maintenance and upgrade activities with minimal impact on end-users.
  7. Collaborate with NOC, project teams, and planning departments for fault escalations, expansions, network capacity planning and network improvements.
  8. Develop and maintain SOPs, safety guidelines, and technical documentation for O&M activities.
  9. Continuously drive improvements in operational workflows, system reliability, and team efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in telecommunications network operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or assistant managerial role.
  • Strong technical foundation in IP networking (IPv4/IPv6, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, QoS) and Layer 2/Layer 3 troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience with broadband technologies such as GPON, xDSL, LTE/5G.
  • Proficient in using network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
  • Knowledge of local telecommunications regulatory frameworks and submission procedures.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and people management skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking capabilities, especially under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certifications such as CCNP, JNCIP, or similar.
  • Experience in a Malaysian ISP or telecom operator environment.
  • Exposure to network automation, SD-WAN, or OSS/BSS platforms is an added advantage.
