Job Description
- Minimum of 10 years teaching experience in IGCSE syllabus.
- An excellent, reflective classroom practitioner, with a desire to continually improve teaching practice;
- Up-to-date knowledge and understanding of practices, trends and issues in education;
- An ability to get the best out of young people; strong team member, who actively builds and promotes trust and openness;
- Good communication skills, both verbally and written;
- Highly proficient in spoken and written English.
- Ability to communicate in French or Korean is an advantage.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills;
- Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and flexible;
- Ability to take initiative;
- High ICT literacy;
- Genuine interest in young people and their wellbeing.
Key Duties
Teaching and Learning
- Plan and prepare lessons;
- Teach students according to their educational needs, setting high expectations for all;
- Set and mark students’ work, including examinations;
- Assess, record, and report on students' development, progress, and attainment;
- Provide feedback to help students improve;
- Adapt lesson plans based on student feedback and work.
Reporting and Assessing
- Provide regular reports and grades in line with the school cycle;
- Identify and raise concerns about students;
- Attend parent-teacher meetings and report to parents;
- Provide references for students and assess prospective students as needed;
- Prepare examinations and tests.
Other Duties
- Take attendance and alert staff if concerned about a student’s whereabouts;
- Maintain a vibrant and positive classroom environment;
- Promote student wellbeing and good behaviour;
- Act on concerns about student wellbeing, involving safeguarding team when necessary;
- Communicate with parents;
- Supervise students on visits and trips;
- Lead extracurricular activities weekly;
- Cover lessons for absent teachers.
Primary School
- Take primary responsibility for a class and collaborate with the year group team;
- Work closely with the class learning assistant;
- Attend staff meetings and contribute to school development plans;
Secondary School
- Participate in department and staff meetings;
- Contribute to department plans and schemes of work;
- Mentor Sixth Form students and lead PSHE lessons.
Professional Development
- Engage in CPD and further reading;
- Participate in the school’s development and performance management programs;
- Join CPD initiatives like observation fortnight.
