This position is responsible for the delivery of all dialysis-related nursing services for the End Stage Renal Disease patient in a chronic setting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all inclusive.

  1. Supervises and performs direct patient care including but not limited to taking and monitoring vital signs, initiation and termination of dialysis, documentation, physical assessment of patients and patient treatments, taking and transcription of physician’s orders, drawing and documentation of ordered laboratory work.
  2. Notes signs of trauma, patient’s general physical and mental condition, reviews dialysis orders, documents observations in patient medical records.
  3. Analyzes patient assessments, laboratory data and, when concerns are noted, brings issues to the attention of the physician.
  4. Communicates all emergencies, patient life-threatening complications and related incidents to supervisor, Medical Director, Regional Operations Manager and Facility Administrator.
  5. Assesses patient and family learning readiness and provides appropriate information on renal disease, prescribed dialysis treatment, and medical regimen and its impact on the patient’s health and well-being.
  6. Provides dialysis therapy, including formulating dialysis plan per physician orders, managing weight and ultrafiltration rate, verifying safety measures, administering medications or treatments, discontinuing dialysis, and documenting all activity.
  7. Instructs patients on pre- and post-dialysis care.
  8. Provides patient care in a considerate, respectful manner.
  9. Participates in developing and implementing the patient’s short and long-term care plan and monthly progress notes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, licenses, certifications, and experience required to fulfill the essential duties, including computer skills as required.

  • Registered as a general nurse with Malaysia Nursing Board.
  • Current annual practicing certificate.
  • Holds an approved nephrology nursing qualification, post-basic qualification for nephrology.
  • Intermediate computer skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with ability to create presentations and use the Internet effectively.
