Regional Manager- Research & Development, Bakery (Breads)

Your Mission

Developing Bakery businesses in the region of Asia-Pacific is a major focus for PURATOS. A key element for success is the technical support that is requested both internally and by our customers. Reporting directly to the APMEA Regional R&D Director, the successful candidate for this key function will be to support training, project management, technical support, large account support, and strategic R&D follow up to local R&D Managers (and teams) in each country of the Region. At the same time, s/he promotes the permanent generation of innovations inspired by local or regional products or traditions.

What you will do

1. Support local R&D teams in the Asia Pacific countries on formulations, new product development, adaptation, and documentation (30%)
   • In collaboration with the local general manager, R&D managers, and sales manager, give local support and service in the different countries in the Region
   • Support the development of local sales by means of tailor-made product adaptation
   • Promote the generation of innovations inspired by local or regional products or traditions; channel these ideas and structure to successfully translate them into sales
   • Support the countries to achieve their innovation pyramid and ensure they keep it as an important focus. Make sure they keep the innovation pyramid up to date
2. Stimulate the implementation of Bakery strategy into the region's new product development; follow up the technology developments & innovations of Head Quarters and transfer them into the region; support and implement the training of our local R&D Managers; ensure that the local R&D managers have all basic competences to perform local developments in the area of patisserie mixes (30%).
3. Support the Bakery product range business development activities in the Region (Seminars, trainings, customer visits, trade shows, internal and external presentations). Work together with the local Key Account Managers to specially support large international accounts, by visiting customers in the region, and by supporting customer innovation days at the Industrial Competence Center (20%).
4. Promote and implement the Values and procedures of the Puratos Group in all matters related to Total Quality (10%).
5. Work closely with the sales and marketing departments in the region to better understand the market and to be proactive in the proposition of patisserie/bakery products (10%).

What we expect from you

Combines the competences of PRODUCTS KNOW-HOW and PROCESSES for typical bakery products. S/he can be a specialist in a specific technology or product range because of earlier experiences, or has relevant experiences to acquire this information in the short term.

• Is a food technologist/engineer (University degree in food science or related disciplines) with at least 5 years experience in Bakery/Food R&D position.
• Is analytical, a team player with very good communication/commercial skills.
• Has a strong knowledge of food ingredients and their applications in bakery products, and has a passion for food.
• Is business driven.
• Is willing to travel often within the region (30 – 50 % of time).
• Is fluent in English.
• Ideally, fluent in Chinese (added advantage) in order to serve the Chinese prospect within Asia Pacific countries.
• Is fully familiar with Windows Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Is a proactive and creative person with an innovative mind.
