Qualifications

Job description

Identify, evaluate, and source merchandise products that enhance brand visibility and drive sales.

Develop and implement sourcing strategies to secure high-quality merchandise at competitive costs.

Conduct market research to stay ahead of industry trends and introduce innovative merchandise that differentiates the brand from competitors.

Identify, assess, and onboard reliable suppliers, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.

Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with suppliers to maximize value and maintain strong partnerships.

Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues related to quality, lead time, and compliance.

3. Product Development & Brand Alignment

Collaborate with Marketing and Brand teams to develop exclusive, high-impact merchandise that aligns with brand identity and promotional campaigns.

Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure product designs, materials, and packaging reflect the brand’s positioning and appeal to target consumers.

Source sustainable and innovative materials that align with the company’s sustainability goals.

4. Cost Management & Budgeting

Manage procurement budgets effectively, ensuring cost optimization while maintaining product quality.

Analyze cost structures and identify opportunities for cost reduction through strategic supplier partnerships and bulk purchasing.

Monitor expenses, forecast demand, and ensure spending aligns with business objectives.

5. Inventory & Order Management

Plan and manage inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstocking of merchandise items.

Coordinate with demand planning and logistics teams to ensure seamless order fulfillment and timely stock replenishment.

Ensure proper documentation and compliance with procurement policies and procedures.

6. Process Improvement & Compliance

Enhance procurement processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and transparency.

Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical sourcing standards, and regulatory requirements.

Leverage technology and procurement best practices to streamline operations and reporting.

7. Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with the Marketing, Sales, and Operations teams to align procurement strategies with business goals and promotional activities.

Support new product launches and promotional campaigns by securing merchandise that enhances customer engagement and brand recall.

Provide insights and recommendations on merchandise trends and consumer preferences.

8. Market & Competitor Analysis

Conduct regular benchmarking and competitor analysis to understand industry trends and consumer behavior.

Identify opportunities to introduce unique, limited-edition, or seasonal merchandise that enhances brand desirability.

Qualification

Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.

Professional certifications (e.g., CIPS, CPSM, or equivalent) are an added advantage.

Experience

Minimum 5–8 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management, preferably in merchandising, retail, or F&B industry.

Proven experience in sourcing and managing suppliers from overseas is highly desirable.

Experience in presenting proposals and engaging with Senior Management is required.

Experience in product development and brand merchandising is an added advantage.

Skills & Knowledge

Strong communication and presentation skills – Ability to engage, influence, and present proposals confidently to Senior Management.

Proficiency in Chinese (Mandarin) and English (both spoken and written) – Essential for supplier negotiations, contract management, and proposal presentations.

Strong negotiation and vendor management skills to secure the best terms and quality from suppliers.

Analytical and problem-solving skills to assess product feasibility, cost analysis, and market trends.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) – Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.) preferred.

Experience with ERP or procurement systems is an added advantage.

Strong project management skills to oversee multiple sourcing projects simultaneously.

Ability to travel overseas when required for supplier visits, trade shows, and business meetings.
