Job Description

In the position as the Director, Data Governance, you will be crucial in supporting and executing initiatives to increase and govern data quality to maximize Western Digital’s value. This role involves working with other supply chain data stewards to develop and implement data quality and governance strategies and processes across the supply chain, ensuring they are prioritized to support business objectives and improve operational efficiencies. The perfect candidate will possess a solid background in Data Quality and Analytics with demonstrated experience in stakeholder collaboration, establishing frameworks, and execution of the strategy to drive data governance projects, results, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Data Quality Assurance:
    • Establishing data quality metrics and benchmarks.
    • Implementing data validation processes to identify and rectify discrepancies.
  2. Data Governance:
    • Developing and enforcing data governance policies and standards.
    • Measuring adherence to policies, standards, and data quality standards.
  3. Tool and Technology Management:
    • Evaluating, implementing, and supporting data quality and analytics tools (e.g., ETL tools, BI platforms).
    • Staying updated on emerging technologies and best practices in data management.
  4. Reporting and Visualization:
    • Creating data quality scorecards, areas of focus, and reports to present data quality insights to stakeholders.
    • Leveraging data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) for effective communication.
  5. Performance Analysis:
    • Analyzing the effectiveness of data quality/cleansing initiatives through KPIs and metrics.
    • Continuously improving processes based on performance outcomes.
  6. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Partnering with IT, business units, and data governance teams to align data strategies.
    • Communicating analytical findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
  7. Team Leadership:
    • Recruiting, training, and mentoring other data stewards and professionals.
    • Fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovation.
Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management or supply chain with demonstrated data quality and governance program management skills and financial acumen.
  • Experience in establishing and maturing data management strategies and projects.
  • Experience in leading teams through projects with demonstrated results.

    • Strong problem-solving abilities and a keen eye for detail.
    • Ability to interpret complex datasets and derive actionable insights.
  • Project Management:
    • Experience in managing projects from initiation to completion, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
