Job description

As bp transitions to an integrated energy company, we must adapt to a changing world and maintain competitive performance. bp's customers & products (C&P) business area is setting up a business and technology centre (BTC) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This will support the delivery of an enhanced customer experience and drive innovation by building global capabilities at scale, using technology, and developing deep expertise. The BTC will be a core and connected part of our business, bringing together colleagues who report into their respective part of C&P, working together with other functions across bp. This is an exciting time to join bp and the customers & products team.

The Global Procurement Contract Manager is responsible for driving improved value, compliance, and effective risk management within the sourcing process through effective contract creation, development, and management. Additionally, this role will support operational activities in the Castrol Direct Procurement Function within BP, such as training and coaching internal partners and process mapping.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead the Source to Contract process and activities, ensuring the end-to-end BP S2C process is fit for purpose in Castrol.
  2. Ensure procurement compliance with all contract-related BP policies, mandated training, sustainability considerations, and contractual content requirements.
  3. Create and maintain a high-performance culture across the Contracts team.
  4. Work with the Global Operations & Compliance Manager to review and enhance learning, development, and capability requirements of the Procurement team, recommending courses of action.
  5. Drive improvements in the business/function's risk profile and operational efficiency through the successful delivery of change programmes including e-sourcing, contracts compliance, and contracting effectiveness.
  6. Own the process of contract writing, including process mapping and design in collaboration with the Group procurement team.
  7. Collaborate with GBS and BP Group to ensure alignment with policies and optimal resource, system, and process utilization.
  8. Develop implementation and training plans to embed new ways of working.
  9. Oversee and lead contracting excellence initiatives, supporting related processes and tools.
  10. Provide analytical, reporting, and support activities to Lubricants Procurement teams, focusing on contracts compliance.
  11. Foster relationships with key stakeholders across the business to enhance the perception of operational procurement's value.
  12. Ensure personal safety and participate in safety moments and driver safety compliance.
  13. Lead and build consensus on mandatory requirements and actions to ensure compliance with policies and standards during S2C deployment and operations.
  14. Manage and lead the delivery of a contracting excellence programme, supporting related processes and tools.
Essential Education, Experience, and Job Requirements
  • Graduate or equivalent qualification/experience.
  • Deep knowledge of contracting processes, tools, and systems, preferably in the 'directs' sector, with understanding of critical clauses and T&Cs.
  • Strong contracting practitioner background, either legal or procurement, or both.
  • Excellent partner management and engagement skills across multiple levels and regions.
  • Proven experience in delivering sourcing processes within a complex, global organization, managing multi-billion dollar spends.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and support workload management for oneself and others.
