Job Profile Overview
The Senior Manager, Purchasing Operational, is a leadership role responsible for overseeing and optimizing the operational procurement functions within the organization. This position requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in operational procurement, team management, and supply chain operations. The Senior Manager will lead a team of operational buyers, ensuring efficient and effective procurement processes while maintaining high standards for supplier relationships and timely deliveries. The role involves close collaboration with internal stakeholders, including category buying and material planning teams, to drive process improvements and ensure the accuracy and efficiency of the purchasing process.
Job Responsibilities:
• Supervise and manage the operational buying team on a daily basis.
• Coach and develop operational buyers by clarifying their roles and responsibilities.
• Instruct operational buyers on expected tasks and monitor progress using KPIs.
• Conduct annual appraisals for the operational buying team.
• Enhance collaboration with internal stakeholders.
• Serve as a point of contact for operational buyers for escalations related to delivery or
supplier issues.
• Ensure the operational buying team maintains effective communication with suppliers to
secure timely deliveries.
• Facilitate interaction between the operational buying team, category buying team, and
material planning team.
• Develop, document, and continuously improve processes for translating purchase requests
into purchase orders, ensuring timely and accurate delivery within the Frencken Quality
Management System.
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or Engineering,
ideally complemented by certifications in Supply Chain or Procurement Management.
• At least 5 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in operational procurement.
• Global knowledge of precision machining, mechatronic assemblies, raw materials, surface
treatment, or other relevant supply markets.
• Familiarity with MRP systems, as well as project and demand planning.
• Proficient in MS Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, Project).
• Strong understanding of procurement processes, procedures, and best practices.
• Effective negotiation skills for managing contracts and terms with suppliers.
• Ability to manage supplier relationships and evaluate supplier performance.
• Strong analytical skills to assess purchase data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
• Attention to detail in processing orders, managing inventory, and ensuring documentation
accuracy.
