Job Overview:
Position is based in Malaysia to attend stage-wise and final inspection at vendor facility. Candidate should be able to represent McDermott, follow the McDermott work culture and values during inspections, and have an EPC Contractor’s solution-oriented approach to address issues raised during inspections. The candidate must coordinate with vendors and all involved inspection parties from COMPANY and IVS, and confidently communicate inspection findings and clearances.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical/Instrumentation
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in vendor inspection activities, with at least 5 years in Oil and Gas
- At least 3 years of experience performing detailed Ex inspections independently, following IEC 60079 Parts 14 and 17
- Valid Hazardous Area Equipment Inspection and Maintenance Certificate (IECEx, CompEx, or equivalent), such as IECEx Ex 001, 007 & 008, or CompEx 01 to 04
- ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification is recommended
Preferred Qualifications:
- Thorough knowledge of engineering codes and standards for offshore projects, such as NEC/NFPA 70, IEC standards, etc.
- Knowledge of Hazardous Area Equipment Standards IEC 60079 (all parts), API RP 505, API RP 14FZ, ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU
- Knowledge of ICSS systems
- Familiarity with ISO standards ISO 9001 & 29001 and QMS practices
- Good communication skills and experience working with multinational teams
- Proficiency in MS Office and presentation skills

Responsibilities:
- Attend pre-inspection meetings and verify key document approvals before fabrication begins
- Ensure compliance with Inspection and Test Plans and QA/QC documentation
- Verify vendors use the latest drawings and documents through routine checks
- Witness and perform inspections at vendor premises based on purchase orders and client requirements
- Conduct material inspections, including MTC, traceability, NACE, visual, and dimensional inspections
- Verify alloy and perform chemical analysis (PMI)
- Perform in-process inspections during installation and assembly of electrical and instrumentation equipment, cabling, and tube fittings
- Ensure installation of certified equipment complies with project specifications and IEC 60079 standards
- Verify competency of personnel involved in Ex installation and inspection
- Check grounding and earthing requirements for equipment and instruments
- Witness type, routine, and performance tests for electrical equipment as per IEC and project specs
- Witness final installation tests such as insulation resistance, earth resistance, pressure, and hydrostatic tests
- Witness calibration, functional tests, and system integration tests
- Verify vendor adherence to approved sub-vendor lists
- Witness mechanical completion of skids and perform detailed Ex inspections
- Review certificates (calibration, SIL, ATEX/IECEx) and manufacturing reports
- Report non-conformities and ensure corrective actions are taken
- Review documentation for manufacturing records and perform pre-shipment inspections
- Prepare inspection reports and release notes
