Job description

- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, automation, or related field.

- Minimum 3 years of experience in project engineering of automation systems, instrumentation, and control is essential. Skills: SolidWorks, CREO, Autodesk Inventor, robotics exposure, electronics wiring and programming.

- Knowledge of mechanical design and automation systems.

- Strong technical knowledge and experience with AB servo motors, AB drives, pneumatics, AB PLC, Omron PLC, Epson robots, island view, panel view software (advantage).

- Understands safety-rated automation and hardware requirements, ensuring systems are in place to maintain safety ratings.

Authorities

  1. Develop, test, and implement automation projects in the factory.
  2. Prepare automation workflows, SOPs/WIs, and provide training to the operation team.
  3. Supervise and troubleshoot automation systems as needed.
  4. Establish monitoring and qualification processes; investigate defects or errors in automation systems.
  5. Collaborate with other business units to leverage automation for workflow improvements.

Responsibilities

  1. Set up and debug automation equipment including indexers, carousels, pick and place mechanisms, vision systems, leak detectors, robots, lasers, sensors, pneumatic valves, and guarding.
  2. Troubleshoot equipment by determining root causes of issues.
  3. Review existing automation equipment and future automation concepts; suggest modifications for repair or improvement.
  4. Create and interpret logic and flow diagrams for design, build, testing, and startup.
  5. Fabricate parts as needed, including machining and grinding.
  6. Coordinate with site manufacturing for proper spare parts inventory.
  7. Document all work and modifications accurately.
  8. Design, engineer, and modify automation equipment, tooling, and applications to automate manufacturing processes.
  9. Develop technical manuals, drawings, models, training documents, preventive maintenance plans, and troubleshooting guides.
  10. Understand machine operating principles, wear and tear, and product defects.
  11. Manage preventive maintenance and calibration; monitor equipment performance for continuous improvement.
  12. Ensure availability and maintenance of PLC, DCS, VSD, and PC hardware/software.
  13. Oversee daily department activities to maximize equipment utilization and support production.
  14. Lead and develop a team to maintain automated production equipment within budget and performance targets.
  15. Contribute to planning and maintaining the automation framework for new products.
  16. Identify and implement improvements to enhance automation effectiveness.
  17. Coordinate with vendors for smooth startup of new equipment.
