Job description

The School Librarian will manage and oversee the school library, ensuring that students and staff have access to a wide variety of resources for reading, research, and learning. The Librarian will foster a love of reading and support the school curriculum through the integration of library services into classroom activities.

Responsibilities/Duties:

1. Organise, maintain, and catalogue library resources including books, multimedia, and digital resources.
2. Develop and implement library policies and procedures.
3. Manage the library budget and order new materials as needed.
4. Promote a love of reading through book talks, reading programs, and library events.
5. Assist students in selecting appropriate reading materials.
6. Support regular library classes to teach students about library resources and research skills.
7. Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into the curriculum.
8. Provide resources and support for classroom projects and assignments.
9. Conduct professional development sessions for staff on the use of library resources and technology.
10. Manage and support the use of technology within the library.
11. Assist students and staff with digital literacy skills.
12. Stay current with emerging technologies and integrate them into the library program.
13. Foster a welcoming and inclusive library environment for all students and staff.
14. Develop partnerships with local libraries and community organizations.
15. Maintain accurate records of library inventory and circulation.
