POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Head of the Technical Advisory Group, the Controls Specialist, plays a critical role within our global Data Centre team. In this position you will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) in data centre controls with a global remit, focusing on ensuring the highest standards of design, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, system monitoring, optimisation, and emergency response. Your expertise will be pivotal in maintaining the operational excellence and efficiency of our data centres worldwide, with a particular emphasis on the APAC region and other key global markets.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and Installation: Provide expert guidance on the design and installation of data centre control systems, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and organizational standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement innovative control solutions tailored to specific project requirements.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Oversee the maintenance of data centre control systems to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex control system issues, providing rapid resolution to maintain operational continuity.
  • Repair and System Monitoring: Coordinate and execute repairs on control systems, leveraging advanced diagnostic tools and techniques. Implement and manage comprehensive system monitoring protocols to proactively identify and address potential issues.
  • System Optimisation: Analyse system performance data to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost savings. Develop and implement optimisation strategies to enhance the reliability and performance of control systems.
  • Emergency Response: Establish and maintain robust emergency response protocols to address control system failures and other critical incidents.
  • Lead emergency response efforts, coordinating with internal teams and external partners to mitigate impact and restore normal operations swiftly.
  • Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing: Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to leverage expertise and best practices in controls and monitoring systems. Share knowledge and provide training to enhance the overall competency of the organization.
  • Global Remit: Support operations across various regions, with a particular focus on APAC and wider territories. Adapt strategies and solutions to meet regional requirements and regulations.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in Data Centre or critical environment controls, with a strong background in design, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, system monitoring, and optimisation.
  • Extensive experience in the APAC region, with knowledge of regional standards and practices.
  • Proven track record of managing control systems in a global context, demonstrating cultural awareness and adaptability.
  • Strong technical skills, including proficiency with control system software and hardware.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a proactive and analytical approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel internationally as needed to support global operations.
