Job Requirements
Minimum SPM or Certificate/Diploma in Culinary Arts, Hospitality, or related field. Commis 1: At least 2 years of experience in a kitchen. Commis 2: At least 1 year of experience in a kitchen. Commis 3: No experience required but must show eagerness to learn. Familiarity with Halal food preparation standards is a plus.

Responsibilities
- Assist with mise en place (chopping, marinating, sauce prep, etc.).
- Follow standard recipes, portioning, and plating guidelines.
- Learn and develop cooking techniques under senior chefs.
- Ensure food is cooked and presented according to company standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations.
Kitchen Operations & Hygiene
- Follow kitchen hygiene, food safety, and Halal compliance.
- Ensure ingredients are properly stored, labeled, and rotated.
- Keep kitchen tools, utensils, and equipment clean.
- Reduce food wastage by following proper portioning and storage.
Teamwork & Learning
- Work closely with senior chefs (Demi Chef, Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, etc.).
- Accept guidance and feedback to improve skills.
- Assist in basic cooking tasks and section duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate a positive learning attitude and willingness to grow.
Commis Chef Levels
- Commis 1 (Senior Commis): More experienced in food preparation and basic cooking. Able to work independently under Chef de Partie's supervision. Trains and assists Commis 2 and 3. Responsible for maintaining ingredient stock levels. Prepares and executes basic dishes with minimal supervision.
- Commis 2 (Intermediate Level): Assists in food preparation under Commis 1 and Chef de Partie. Learning more advanced skills, supports mise en place, ingredient cutting, sauce prep, and dish assembly. Works towards mastering kitchen sections.
- Commis 3 (Entry-Level/Beginner): Assists in basic food prep and cleaning duties. Supports Commis 1 and 2. Learns kitchen basics, hygiene, knife handling, and food storage. Develops foundation for advancement.
