The Head of Communications is responsible for developing and implementing the strategic communications plan for PUSPAKOM. This role leads all aspects of the company’s communications, both internal and external, ensuring alignment with the company’s objectives, values, and corporate identity. The Head of Communications will oversee media relations, internal communications, crisis management, and digital communication strategies to enhance the brand's reputation and strengthen its relationship with stakeholders.

HEAD OF COMMUNICATIONS

A) JOB SUMMARY:

The Head of Communications is responsible for developing and implementing the strategic communications plan for PUSPAKOM. This role leads all aspects of the company’s communications, both internal and external, ensuring alignment with the company’s objectives, values, and corporate identity. The Head of Communications will oversee media relations, internal communications, crisis management, and digital communication strategies to enhance the brand's reputation and strengthen its relationship with stakeholders.

B) KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Strategic Communications Leadership:
  • Develop and execute the company’s overarching communications strategy to align with PUSPAKOM’s corporate goals.

  • Ensure that all communications (internal and external) are consistent with PUSPAKOM's corporate identity and brand values.

  • Lead, manage, and continuously optimize the communications department to achieve key organizational objectives.

2. External Communications & Public Relations:
  • Oversee all external communications, including media relations, public announcements, and public-facing content.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, journalists, and key industry stakeholders.

  • Manage the company’s reputation in the public eye by proactively engaging with media and securing coverage in key outlets.

  • Guide the team in the creation of press releases, speeches, and other public-facing materials, ensuring they adhere to company standards.

3. Internal Communications:
  • Lead and manage the internal communications function to ensure that employees are well-informed, engaged, and aligned with the company’s vision.

  • Oversee the development of internal communication strategies that promote employee engagement, strengthen organizational culture, and ensure clear messaging.

  • Ensure that key messages from leadership are effectively communicated across all levels of the organization.

4. Crisis and Issues Management:
  • Lead the company’s crisis communication efforts, providing expert guidance and support during reputational risks, crises, or sensitive situations.

  • Work closely with senior leadership to develop crisis communication strategies and ensure timely, accurate, and consistent messaging to internal and external audiences.

  • Be on-call for urgent media inquiries, public relations issues, or any crises that require immediate attention.

5. Digital and Social Media Strategy:
  • Develop and implement a digital communications strategy, including social media, blogs, website content, and email campaigns.

  • Oversee social media accounts, ensuring timely, engaging, and brand-consistent content that enhances PUSPAKOM's online presence.

  • Work closely with digital marketing teams to integrate communications strategies into broader digital marketing campaigns.

6. Brand Management and Corporate Identity:
  • Protect and enhance PUSPAKOM’s brand identity, ensuring that all communication materials, both internal and external, are consistent with the brand guidelines.

  • Act as the brand steward, ensuring that the company’s corporate identity is applied consistently across all platforms and media.

7. Stakeholder Relations:
  • Act as the main communication point of contact with key stakeholders, including government bodies, regulators, industry associations, and the public.

  • Maintain and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders to foster goodwill and ensure that PUSPAKOM’s interests are well represented.

8. Team Leadership & Development:
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire the communications team, providing guidance, professional development opportunities, and fostering a collaborative work environment.

  • Establish performance metrics for the communications team and evaluate progress regularly to ensure objectives are being met.

  • Promote a culture of creativity, innovation, and excellence in all communication efforts.

9. Measurement, Reporting & Budgeting:
  • Establish communication performance metrics and analyze data to measure the effectiveness of communication strategies.

  • Prepare regular reports for senior management to track the success of communication campaigns and public perception.

  • Manage the communication department’s budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and cost-effective communication strategies.

C) JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.

  • Experience:

    • At least 10 years of experience in communications, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role.

    • Proven experience in managing internal and external communications, media relations, crisis management, and digital communications.

    • Experience working with senior executives and other key stakeholders.

    • A track record of building and leading high-performing teams.

  • Skills:

    • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.

    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in both English and Bahasa Malaysia (additional languages are a plus).

    • Strong media relations and public speaking skills.

    • Expertise in crisis communications, with the ability to handle high-pressure situations.

    • Experience in managing social media platforms, digital content, and other digital communication channels.

    • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

This will be done through our strict and thorough inspection on vehicles to ensure they conform to the Government's safety and emission regulations.

Every year, PUSPAKOM performs more than 3 million vehicle inspections. PUSPAKOM has established a nationwide network of 54 full-fledged and well-equipped inspection centres, complemented by more than 25 inspection visiting sites that provide vehicle inspection services in Malaysia’s less populated and rural areas.

PUSPAKOM’s Mobile Inspection Services which comprise of Mobile Truck, Mobile Van and Light Mobile, also provide convenient and hassle-free door-to-door vehicle inspection services to our individual and corporate customers.
