We are currently looking for a Senior Lighting & Compositing Artist to join our quest.

Job Summary:

The Senior Lighting & Compositing Artist is responsible for producing and assisting the daily activities of the lighting team and ensuring deliverables are completed on time. You will work closely with the Light Lead & Supervisor and various other teams to successfully meet the show’s technical and creative needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Fulfill the creative expectations set by both client and director, work with Lighting Lead and Lighting Supervisor to solve creative or technical challenges.
  • Maintain the overall look, colour balance, and quality for assigned shots and sequences to create uniformity in all finished work.
  • Creating exterior and interior light rigs for key light and master shots that can be used in shot production.
  • Compositing of rendered layers, as well as effects layers from the special effects team.
  • Optimize and troubleshoot lighting and rendering issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Engaging at every stage of production including pre-visualisation of complicated sequences, look development, and research and development.
  • May train, mentor, or supervise the work of entry and mid-level generalist artists.
  • Provide artistic and technical support and problem solving whenever required.
  • Participate in meetings and vocally express your thoughts/ideas.
  • Constantly research for new techniques and development skills.
  • Produce training materials for improving team skills and optimizing the production process.
  • Actively follow up, able to detect bugs, analyze and present solutions.
  • Possess a library of references (2D pictures and 3D textures) to use for working and to share with the art team.
  • Help the team to update the Lighting bible.
  • Train 3D art, coach and mentor Junior Artists.
  • Interpret Concept art and colour keys, Create 3D Renders.
Required Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in graphic design, animation, multimedia design, fine art, film studies or CGI and 3D.
  • 5+ years of Animation or VFX industry experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of 3D software, preferably including Maya, Houdini, and Nuke.
  • Understanding of lighting fundamentals.
  • Intermediate to advanced-level compositing experience.
  • Experience with node-based workflow and software.
  • Scripting experience with MEL or Python strongly desired.
  • Ability to problem solve and predict potential problems with assigned tasks.
  • Superior eye for light, mood, colour, and details in creating Key Light.
  • Ability to improve and optimize existing Lighting & Comp scenes.
  • Ability to create Key Light base from concept art/color key.
  • Ability to resolve any artistic or technical issues.
  • Ability to manage personal milestones and deadlines.
  • Good English oral communication skills: able to read English emails and reply.
  • Commitment and sense of responsibility: Show strong commitment to the teams and to the company and be willing to work hard to complete the task on time.
  • Ability to talk in meetings.
  • Self-driven, good communicator, and great team player.
  • Proactive, autonomous, responsible, and well organized.
  • Keep a positive mindset and manage stress facing issues.
  • Experience with 3D texturing a plus.
  • Experience with Look Development a plus.
  • Experience with Mantra a plus.

  • This position will require the successful applicant to relocate and work on-site at our studio in Kota Damansara, Malaysia.
