Job description

Job Description

Responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, environment and high performance of port equipment by leading the development and execution of advanced reliability engineering practices. This senior role oversees strategic initiatives to assess and mitigate operational risks that may impact the health and safety of personnel and the continuity of container handling operations. The primary focus is on maximizing equipment uptime, optimizing asset performance, and extending the operational lifespan of critical infrastructure through data-driven reliability programs.

Reliability Analysis:

  • Lead comprehensive reliability analyses (e.g., FMEA, FMECA, Root Cause Analysis) on critical assets to proactively identify failure modes and implement long-term reliability improvement strategies.
  • Drive the application of Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) methodologies to optimize maintenance strategies in alignment with operational priorities and asset criticality.
  • Ensure all plant equipment has a documented and risk-informed Equipment Maintenance Plan (EMP), tailored to address known and potential failure modes.
  • Oversee the identification of failure modes and validate that appropriate preventive, predictive, and condition-monitoring tasks are defined and implemented to mitigate failure risks.
  • Implement and manage maintenance strategies using the Asset Criticality Database to ensure high-impact assets receive prioritized attention and support strategic decision-making.

Risk Assessment:

  • Conduct risk assessments (e.g., Risk-Based Inspection, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) to identify, evaluate, and prioritize critical assets and systems based on potential impact and likelihood of failure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, maintenance, engineering, and safety to develop and implement effective risk mitigation strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory standards.

Root Cause Analysis:

  • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations for critical equipment failures using structured methodologies (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, Fault Tree Analysis) to identify underlying causes.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to eliminate recurrence, drive continuous improvement, and enhance asset reliability.

Asset Performance Monitoring:

  • Implement and oversee condition monitoring programs to continuously track the health and performance of critical assets, ensuring early detection of potential issues.
  • Leverage predictive maintenance tools and technologies (e.g., vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis) to identify and address emerging equipment failures before functional loss occurs.
  • Develop and manage the Predictive and Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) program, aligning it with asset criticality, failure modes, and maintenance strategy.
  • Determine the appropriate deployment of condition monitoring technologies by evaluating failure modes, asset criticality, and available resources to ensure optimal coverage and impact.
  • Track and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) of the Condition Monitoring Program to assess program effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop Condition Monitoring engineer/technicians, fostering technical expertise, standardization, and reliability-focused culture across the organization.

Reliability Improvement Initiatives:

  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve asset reliability, availability, and maintainability through data-driven strategies and engineering solutions.
  • Perform statistical analysis on equipment failure data (e.g., Weibull, Pareto, MTBF) to identify trends and inform changes to Equipment Maintenance Plans (EMP).
  • Continuously optimize Equipment Maintenance Plans based on insights from failure analysis and reliability performance data.
  • Collect and analyse equipment failure data to identify bad actors, dominant failure modes, and opportunities for targeted reliability improvements.
  • Recommend and implement maintenance strategy enhancements in collaboration with the Maintenance Department, supporting a robust defect elimination process.
  • Facilitate weekly reliability review meetings with Maintenance and Reliability (M&R) teams to track progress, address issues, and align on priorities.
  • Collaborate closely with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to embed reliability best practices across the asset lifecycle.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Collect, analyse, and interpret reliability data to assess asset performance, identify trends, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and present regular reports on asset performance, reliability KPIs, failure trends, and maintenance effectiveness to stakeholders and leadership teams.
  • Lead and manage the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Defect Elimination process, ensuring effective problem-solving and long-term resolution of recurring issues.
  • Establish and manage RCA triggers based on equipment failure severity, frequency, and criticality, ensuring appropriate incidents are escalated for formal investigation.
  • Facilitate RCA sessions and maintain the Action Item Register, ensuring accountability, timely closure of corrective actions, and integration of lessons learned into reliability strategies.

REQUIREMENT

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent qualifications in Industrial Machinery Reliability are also acceptable.
  • Certified in Asset Reliability (e.g., CMRP, ARP, CRL) is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in industrial maintenance operations; experience in asset-intensive industries is highly preferred.
  • Proven expertise in reliability engineering, including the application of reliability principles, tools, and methodologies (e.g., RCM, FMEA, RCA, Weibull analysis).
  • Strong knowledge of asset integrity management systems and condition-based maintenance strategies.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory codes related to asset reliability and integrity (e.g., ISO 55000, API, ASTM).
  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive, data-driven mindset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly across all organizational levels.
  • Proficient in technical report writing, documentation, and presenting findings to stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated project management capabilities, including planning, coordination, and execution of reliability initiatives.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Collaborative team player, capable of working effectively in cross-functional teams and influencing without authority.
