Introduction

As a Data Engineer, you will be reporting to the Lead Data Engineer and support problem-solving on any data platform and deliver robust recommendations to effectively store, secure, and manage data. You will assist the Lead Data Engineer in the development and adoption of cross-platform products/roadmap, recommend overall sizing of infrastructure for data and analytics platforms.

Your Job

  • Design, develop, optimize, and maintain data architecture and pipelines that adhere to ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) principles and business goals.
  • Create data solutions for data scientists and software engineers to accelerate their productivity.
  • Lead the evaluation, implementation, and deployment of emerging tools and process for data engineering to improve productivity as a team and quality.
  • Partner with machine learning engineers, BI, and solutions architects to develop technical architectures for strategic enterprise projects and initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of sharing, re-use, design for scale stability, and operational efficiency for data and analytical solutions.
  • Advise, consult, mentor other data and analytic professionals on data standards and practices.
  • Learn about machine learning, data science, computer vision, artificial intelligence, statistics, and/or applied mathematics as necessary to carry out role effectively.

Other Responsibilities

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements, and programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, engineering, or a related field
  • Conceptual knowledge of data and analytics, such as dimensional modeling, reporting tools, data governance, and structured and unstructured data.
  • Experience as a Data Engineer on a cross-functional agile team.
  • Expertise in ELT, SQL and Spark.
  • Experience with designing, transforming and maintaining data warehouses and/or data lakes
  • Experience with cloud database technologies (e.g., AWS) and developing solutions on cloud computing services and infrastructure in the data and analytics space.
  • Experience in building data pipelines and deploying/maintaining them with best-in-class software engineering practices (e.g., Git and Jenkins)
  • Familiarity with the Linux operating system.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to articulate the value of a design choice to users and stakeholders.
  • Creative problem solving and analytical skills with ability to synthesize ideas into tangible solutions for design.

Good to have

  • Masters in computer science or a related field
  • Exposure in machine learning, data science, artificial intelligence, statistics, and/or applied mathematics
  • Basic familiarity with BI tools (e.g. Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI, Looker)
  • Experience with containerization (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Understanding of data streaming solutions using technologies like Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, or Apache Spark Streaming
